To all Gloucester Citizens:

I’ve enjoyed meeting each and every one of the Gloucester citizens I’ve met during the campaign trail. Gloucester’s a wonderful community, and I’d like to preserve that.

Professional Accountability

It absolutely astounds me to discover the number of residents who have contacted me about not receiving service from Gloucester Sheriff’s Office. Not taking a report after a crime is reported means that crime numbers, as bad as they are, do not tell the entire story!  Every story is important, and the taxpayers deserve better!

Professional standards start from the top; show that you want PROVEN, EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP to fight crime, make Gloucester safe, and restore accountability to the office of Sheriff on Nov. 8.

Vote TED KOEHL, Independent Candidate for Sheriff

How effective are the current sheriff’s policies at fighting crime?

In the years prior to 2008, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office was a premier agency, with the crime-fighting numbers to prove it. Unfortunately, the current administration’s policies are sorely lacking in keeping Gloucester safe. The Daily Press reported (July 14, 2011) that “Gloucester Sheriff’s Office is PROUD of crime control,” but these are not numbers to be proud of: Burglaries have doubled, and drug enforcement has fallen through the floor.

Folks, this doesn’t cut it! Your tax dollars are providing on the job training for a Sheriff who is unqualified for his position; but we can change this trend.

BOTTOM LINE:  Experienced leadership is what this county needs, not more “on the job training” at taxpayer expense.

One way of measuring how effective a Sheriff’s Office is at fighting crime is to look at the number of reported incidents and compare it to the number of arrests the agency has made. (This is often referred to as the Clearance Rate). It provides a striking illustration at how ineffective our sheriff’s office has become in only 3 years, under the current administration’s policies.   (Click the picture for more detail)

I have the experience, education, and qualifications necessary to fix this, but I need your help!  Contribute today to help tell your friends and neighbors what I am setting out to do. I am committed to keeping Gloucester safe for my family, your family, our schools, streets, businesses, and homes.

In The Race

I want to personally thank each of my many supporters for coming out to Botetourt School this past Thursday! It was very hot and muggy, even inside, and to see your support and encouragement strengthens my resolve to win against all opponents, all the more!

I have been and will remain officially on the election ballot for this November 8th as an independent candidate. With your continued efforts, we can make this a great victory and begin to right our sheriff’s office, to make it more accountable and responsive to our community’s needs; and to let our local law enforcement officers and civilian staff members know that help is on the way!

I look forward to the upcoming challenges and debates against my opponents, and hearing about your concerns, as well as ideas to make our sheriff’s office even better. Thank you all again, and know that I am looking forward to seeing you all out on Election Day, November 8, 2011!!!

To Current GCSO employees

To the current members of GCSO

It is my sincere wish that all employees at Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office can remain when I am elected sheriff.

I know that an agency’s greatest asset is in its people; the employees that consistently do the heavy lifting, largely unrecognized by the public, and too often by management.

My office will strive to put its people first. I am interested in each one of you and the development of your career.

While each of you serving at GCSO should know your employment is at the will and pleasure of the current sheriff, I would appreciate your vote on this Election Day, November 8.

Sincerely,

Ted

A Message from Ted Koehl…

I began my career in law enforcement over 27 years ago, working my way up through the sheriff’s organization, gaining valuable experience, and watching Gloucester Sheriff’s Office grow into a premier, accredited agency.

Unfortunately, over the last 3 years, the Sheriff has lost the agency’s accreditation, lost its effectiveness in fighting drugs and has been lax on crime prevention, misspent tens of thousands in taxpayer money, and lost touch with the needs of the citizens of Gloucester County.

The Good News is, this can change in 2012!

As your sheriff, I will not only restore experience and leadership to our sheriff’s organization, but I will provide Gloucester County with an agency you can trust, one that embraces and serves its citizens, is fiscally responsible, operates with integrity, and one that favors open lines of communication. You want an agency that recognizes that we work for you!

While you’re here, please take a moment to learn about the issues and why this campaign is so important.

Thank you for visiting, and remember to vote for much needed change this November.
